We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to come and join our client: a new Games Platform Team in Piccadilly - London. As a Java Developer in this team you will be using your expert Java development skills and understanding of threading and concurrency to build a greenfield platform which replace our current system which handles over 300 wager bets and payouts as second! As a Java Developer, you will be working alongside a wealth of knowledge within our technical teams to deliver elegant solutions and troubleshoot difficult problems. The new Games Platform team are responsible for a greenfield build of our core platform with which we host and run all of our games. You’ll be responsible for execution of software development from the conceptual phase to the testing phase using the latest tools and technologies.
With this new build comes need to be a great problem solver, face serious challenges and have the ability to think on your feet. Our core platform receives circa 425 bets per second and our slot games alone took 13.6 billion spins last year. Therefore we need someone who truly understands how highly transactional sites work, Java multithreading and concurrency, and ideally has a background with Big Data. All of our Java teams work to Agile principles so ideally you would have too, if not don’t worry we’re pretty good a teaching you!
Responsibilities of the Senior Java Developer (Java, Java Development, Developer):
• Handle server-side development for an n-tier enterprise Java application
• Be responsible for production of high quality, maintainable code
• Solve challenging technical problems within distributed environments
• Design and develop high quality code
• Work in a team using the Scrum agile methodology ensuring that your team meet your sprint commitments
• Continuous improvement of the tools and processes used by the team
Key skills needed for the Senior Java Developer (Java, Java Development, Developer) role:
• Experience with:
o Core Java development
o Server-side Enterprise Java (J2EE or Java EE)
o JSP, XML, XSL and XSLT
o Spring framework including Spring IOC/JDBC
o Unit testing frameworks (JUnit) and unit testing practices
o Concurrent programming and threading
o Database development e.g. MongoDB, noSQL
o Maven, Subversion
o ActiveMQ/Camel or similar
o Linux command shell
o Working on high-volume websites
• Embrace agile software engineering practices and tools; TDD, Continuous Integration etc.
• Understanding of software development life-cycle, Agile software design principles and build processes
• Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work both collaboratively and with limited supervision
• Can deliver results within set deadlines
• Experience in gaming industry a plus
• University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
