Our client is a well-respected Government department. They have an immediate and critical requirement for an experienced SAP BASIS consultant.
Key Tasks
· Full accountability for a significant and critical element of the successful design, build, implementation, testing and deployment/cutover of the in-sourced SAP platform
· Active participation in the design of SAP infrastructure including virtualisation, server, SAN, business continuity and disaster recovery of a Tier 1 business critical application. Enable insourcing project through provision of expert SAP Basis administrator functions to manage SAP software installation and setup, enhancement pack and support pack installation and upgrade.
· Provide knowledge transfer in relation to SAP Basis administration core skills and performance monitoring to nominated SAP Application Support team.
· Define, design, deploy and manage proactive performance monitoring concepts, leading on change control processes to commission adjustments to system tuning and capacity management, utilizing best practice standards in order to maintain maximum possible availability of the business critical SAP software applications.
· Provide specialist SAP Basis support to ensure the availability and integrity of the underlying SAP platform and database to the modular applications that support business processes for approximately 3500 users across the full breadth of SAP, including Finance, HR/Payroll, Procurement, Business Intelligence, Process Integration and Employee/Manager Self Services.
· Provide specialist SAP Basis expertise to manage incident resolution, problem management and change control in relation the business critical SAP platform, including interfaces with other business critical applications.
· Collaborate with and provide advice to other Information Systems teams, specifically Database and Applications Development, Servers and Storage and Networks teams, as required to identify network, hardware, database and application failure scenarios, establish and maintain appropriate monitoring and alerting of issues across the SAP infrastructure, and perform disaster recovery testing to validate SAP recovery.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
· SAP certified Technology Professional or Associate, or;
· Extensive experience in SAP Basis administration, including full end to end SAP implementation lifecycles, upgrades, system refreshes and migrations
· Demonstrable success through individual contribution to large SAP implementation projects, including “ground-up” system builds.
· Demonstrated knowledge of best practice for SAP Basis Administration
· Extensive experience of one of more of the following SAP modules: ECC 6.0, SRM 5.0 to SRM 7.0, NW 7.0 (including XI, BW, Portal)
· Experience of SAP implementations based on Microsoft Server 2003 to 2008 R2 / SQL 2005 to 2008 R2
· Proven ability to train, develop and coach less experienced team members to a standard that enables self-sufficiency; previous training experience an advantage
· Solution Manager 7.0 experience
· SAP Technical Solution Design experience
· Experience of virtualisation technologies, specifically VMware would be an advantage
· Experience of project demands, tight deadlines and a pressurised environment.

· Excellent organisation skills.
· Ability to build, develop and maintain productive relationships with staff, external organisations and stakeholders.
· Ability to communicate clearly across all media on complex, technical issues to a wide range of audiences.
